An emphasis on reading comprehension, academic language, vocabulary building, and developing critical thinking skills is present across the curriculum.
May Center’s arts integration program teaches students to be creative problem-solvers through understanding multiple points of view, design thinking, and an emphasis on developing executive function skills. Students also receive explicit instruction in social-emotional learning (SEL) with relevant practice in social skills and mindfulness. In addition, Intermediate School students participate in a number of special programs throughout the year, including our Winter Ski and Sports Program, Trout in the Classroom, and the community science project Watershed Watch, which provides hands-on science in a real-world context.
