Winter/Spring Dyslexia Specialist Cohort

May Center for Learning is proud to offer a national certification program in Dyslexia Intervention using the Sequential English Education (SEE) program in partnership with Shelton School of Dallas. The SEE program is an IMSLEC-accredited program recognized by the International Dyslexia Association for its Structured Literacy approach to phonological and phonemic awareness, sound-symbol correspondence, phonics, decoding and encoding, syllables, morphology, auditory discrimination, and memory.

 
 

The 2025 Winter/Spring Dyslexia Specialist Cohort will meet:

January 29April 30, 2025
Classes are Wednesdays from 4:00–7:00 pm MT.
Additional Saturday classes from 9:00 am–3:00 pm MT on February 8, March 8, and April 12.

56-hour course includes:

  • Direct, live instruction and discussion via Zoom

  • Online assignments and exam

  • All texts and teaching materials included in course cost (due to distance learning, shipping fees for materials will apply)

  • Required practicum which includes 5 coaching sessions

  • Mentorship by IMSLEC-accredited highly-qualified instructors

In addition to the 56 hours of initial coursework, participants are required to attend 24 hours of extension classes during their practicum.


Registration Information:

The cost for the course is $3,800 and includes all texts and teaching materials.

Scholarship Opportunities:

We are grateful to be able to offer a full scholarship for the Dyslexia Specialist certification program! All coursework, curriculum costs, and practicum fees are paid in full by a federal grant sponsored by Senator Martin Heinrich. Please click here to apply for the scholarship.

Scholarship funding is also available through the Literacy Model School Cohort.

To be considered for either scholarship opportunity, application forms must be submitted by January 3, 2025.

This is a competitive application process. Applicants for the program must have a bachelor’s degree, currently be teaching in New Mexico Public Schools, and have approval from their school principal to apply for the program. Priority will be given to applicants teaching at the elementary level, although applications from middle and high school teachers will be considered. Applicants must commit to fulfilling all aspects of the certification requirements.
