April '22 Newsletter

May Center is excited to announce that beginning September 2022, we are launching the May Center for Childhood Development! This will include a re-visioning of our current tutoring and evaluation programs, and in the future, new services for the community.

May Center for Childhood Development will provide essential educational support services for the community. From identifying learning differences, to facilitating community seminars and parent education events, to providing therapeutic supports for students of all ages, we will help you and your child’s support team develop a deep, multi-faceted understanding of how your child learns best.

We are now enrolling for our Fall 2022 LEAP skills classes/tutoring program. Learn more and register now!

While staff and students were on Spring Break, Natalie Diebel, May Center Director of Operations, was on site coordinating the exciting arrival and installation of our new playground equipment. Students and staff alike were excited to return from break with fun new playground equipment!

Members of both the May Center and St. John’s United Methodist Church communities came together in April to dedicate the new playground. Beforehand, students contemplated what it means to dedicate something, while the ceremony itself included a rousing version of "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes," popsicles, and, of course, playing on the playground.

We thank Pastor Matt for leading us in song, and to all the folks at St. John’s who collaborated with May Center to make this new playground equipment a reality.

Caitlin Trujillo serves as May School’s 1st and 2nd grade teacher. Ms. Caitlin has a passion not only for educating young children, but also in continuing her own education. She most recently received her master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction and also holds a bachelor’s degree in University Studies with concentrations in both Elementary and Special Education. She is nearing completion of her certification as an Academic Language Practitioner.

Caitlin masterfully creates a learning environment in her classroom that engages students throughout the day in reading, writing, math and social skills.  She does this through providing individual and small group lessons that are designed to meet the needs of the individual learner.

We cannot share about Ms. Caitlin without also celebrating the fact that she welcomed her first child, Jeremiah, to her family this year. Jeremiah occasionally makes welcomed guest appearances in the classroom. Students are enamored with his development and love to have the opportunity to read to him.
