letters to the editor
Extra! Extra! Read all about it! May School student writing was published in the Santa Fe New Mexican!
Students in Ms. Corrie's reading class wanted to share their thoughts on the possibility of 100 Afghan refugees moving to Santa Fe. They wrote to the New Mexican about what they have learned about refugees and to send a warm welcome to those that are now living in New Mexico.
egg drop (not the soup)
Above: Science students at work engineering protective devices for raw eggs.
Mr. Scott's science students took on an Egg Drop Challenge this week.
The goal was to protect an egg well enough to survive a drop from 20 feet. Students were given four materials to protect a raw egg: straws, tape, rubber bands, and a plastic bag.
Through this project students practiced the skills of planning, executing, adjusting, and finalizing a finished product. The suspense built as students dropped their egg from 3 feet … then 5 feet … then 8 feet … and finally 20 feet.
While the final count of how many of the 16 eggs survived the 20 foot drop is still in debate, we can confirm that less than five eggs remained unbroken.
This egg was not scrambled.
Looking for signs of damage.
